Indoor wars: The Pros and Cons
Speaking from expierience, running an indoor war can be an absoulute disaster if your not careful. There are alot of factors that come in. Heres my 2 cents on running an indoor war.
1. Keep it short.
Indoor battles become tiresome after 3 or 4 hours. Alot of times its the same thing over and over again. You want to make sure you have short battles as well. I would reccomend 3 hits for a regular indoor battle.
2. Be careful.
EYE PROTECTION OF SOME KIND IS A MUST!@!@! Do not let people play if either you or him can't supply him with some kind of eye protection. I have had about 3 people including myself get contacts ripped, bleeding eyes, and even once a pretty nasty bruise directly below the eye.
3. Using correct facilities.
Some houses simply don't have a good setup for a battle or the room for a battle. I know my house has a midsize basement that is kinda crammed, but is big enough I can have about 6 people. Now obviously you have to look at your group size before deciding if an indoor war is appropriate. I know in the past I have had to call a battle off because the group was getting too big.
Just for a guideline, heres the minimum requirements to have a good indoor battle. An uncluttered area. At least 2 midsize rooms or 1 large room Not too much workour equipment, tools, etc.
4. Parents.
Ok, we all hate it, but all of us who have loving, caring, extremely paranoid parents know having an indoor battle is tough. Unfortuanately though, (take this from expierience too)getting told no is a whole lot better than getting grounded for 2 weeks.
5. Have the right people.
This is the most important thing. You have to have people who know what they are doing and who are relatively careful. Don not play with clumsy, large (cough), people who have no respect for you or your belongings and house. I know it my battle the worst thing we ever broke was a candle holder. Trust me, at a friends house we broke a guitar and we all got shelled. The right people will make all the difference in an indoor battle, safety wise and fun wise.
To sum it up I will say this. Have permission, the right people, and have fun.
