I have quite a few expierience with these. I have one original First Shot, and 2 new micro firing First Shots. The original is terrible out of the box, the new ones are ok for stock. I did a brass barrel mod on the original and 1 of the new ones. They both got around 50 ft. as said on Cx's mod on Nerfhaven. Then I did a CPVC mod. Holy, freaking, craph. It gets 65-70 feet flat. So, I bought another one today from Wal-Mart for 5$ and decided to show you all the mastery of my First Shot (jk).

Ok, so get the gun open, there are only 6 screws on the actual gun that you can see. (NOTE: DO NOT OPEN THE COCKING LEVER!) But, under the orange cap towards the back of the gun, there is a screw under it. Though it is a pain, just use a flathead to pry it off. You don't need to get the other cap off. So then....

Nothing too fancy in the internals. Well lubed gun, good spring, basically a mini Maxshot in case you didn't figure that out. First thing we do is cut the barrel off and then sand down the stub until it looks like this.

Sorry about the picture but you get the point. You want the hole to be enlarged so that you get enough air flow to propel the dart out of the tight constriction of CPVC. I made mine as large as the inner diameter as the CPVC which is little bit bigger than the picture shows.

My barrel is about 3.75 in. long. You can experiment a little with barrel lenghths but 3.5-4 in. works best for me.

Ok, so here is the barrel with a bead of hotglue to get it set and then plumbers goop to provide the real support. (NOTE: YOU MUST USE A VERY STRONG BONDING AGENT SUCH AS PLUMBERS GOOP OR EPOXY OR THE BARREL WILL FALL OFF) I then put electric tape around the barrel just to provide a little extra support, and then I put enough electric tape where the orange piece on the end of the gun will fit very tightly over it. This is to provide support when glue is setting and to provide support while firing.

Here is the barrel with the electric tape around the bottom of the barrel and towards the middle for the orange piece to fit over.

Well, well. Put some more electric tape around the orange piece, and your done. Now you have an excellent and very cheap side arm. As I said before I get around 65-70 feet a shot with stefans and is very accurate from up to about 45-50 ft. away.
